Stand around on the objective without inking up surrounding turf Don't worry that the turf you're capturing isn't objective, it fills up your special and gives you the advantage as enemy squids have to ink a path to the objective. Learn that this game mode is basically still Turf War. Learn to punish: see a charger in an abusable spot? Take him out. Learn to be active: don't let enemies come to the objective If you let them keep their own color ink outside of the zone, or fail to retreat or attack from another angle, you give them the opportunity to make a comeback and punish you with a penalty timer. See, enemy splats on your objective basically fill the objective for them. If you plan to choose something like the Aerospray, Splat Jr., Octobrush, etc, and sit on the objective cleaning up enemy ink without pushing or filling up extra turf, your zone becomes abusable to: It basically like admitting the objective over early. While not horrible, this is an abusable way to play the mode. They may use up more ink, but it reduces the chance of enemies being able to come to the objective. If you like picking off people before they get to the objective, try more instant kill or more ranged options. It means not remaining on top of the objective all the time, and getting easy picks as the enemy tries to approach from spawn. Offensively does not mean recklessly charging into their base or spawn camping. You also play offensively with any weapon. While these seem to be common offensive attribute/weapons, playing offensively is not as bad as playing offensively in Turf War or other Ranked modes. That one Japanese guy who killed you for the eighth time with the Splat Charger Jet Squelchers, anything with range above a Aerospray If you think of an offensive team, you might think: Keep an eye on the zone and clean up enemy ink, and sneak up behind them and get easy splats. Also have good map awareness, such as if you just lose the zone, and you need to retreat. People will enjoy being able to super jump to you. If you play a charger, you should play a backwards role for the most part. It's also good to go a brush for the same spread reasons. for the ability provide ink armor, but just go with your best shooter in Turf War.

If you want to win from the get go, I honestly love the Splattershot Jr. If you want to maintain an above average win rate, its best to go a rapid fire shooter in this mode when queue-ing up, as most teams will benefit from something that can easily fill up the zone. One up close and personal shooter/roller/brush If you think of a well-rounded team, you will often think: Defensive is my least favorite in this mode, while offensive teams can probably have favor in this mode, and teams with an offensive teamstyle will usually have an above average win rate.Įither way you should definitely play using your FAVORITE Turf War Weapon.

These will called basic, offensive, and defensive. There is really not a defining characteristic to playstyle, but I will mention a couple preferred team playstyles based on weapon choice. While Tower Control seems to have better defined roles, Splat Zones is pretty much just zone control. Penalties are displayed below the main counter as well. Ex: Going from 100 to 1 but getting penalized results in a +74 penalty.Īs you control a zone, your point timer at the top of the HUD will count down. Equal to 75% of the amount your team captured. There is no penalty if you lose control, but there is a penalty if you lose the zone and the enemy captures it. There are two stages of control loss: the initial control loss and enemies' capturing it fully To maintain this zone, you must not allow your color to be overrun by the other teams by more than ~45% In order to capture a zone, you must fill that zone with your color ink Sometimes this area will be divided into two, and you need to control both. The goal is to fill up a designated glowing area, usually in the middle of the map. Splat Zones is more or less a contained Turf War to many players. This is mostly just to share my personal success in this mode. It has been tossed around as Salt Zones and the like.Īgain, this is not a complete S rank guide or anything, so add advice, critique. Splat Zones is probably the easiest mode to understand, but also the easiest to lose from one special. Since I recently just hit A in Splat Zones, my least favorite mode, I decided to make another role guide.
